On December 31, 2024, Jamaican dancehall superstar Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel’ Palmer presented her new show Freedom Street at the National Stadium in the capital Kingston.
The concert was sold out. Vybz Kartel, who returned to his audience after an absence of 13 years, sang for 3 hours straight, from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
He revisited all his hits, like Hustle the Money, Thank You Jah and Marie.
He also invited several singers, artists with whom he worked before his incarceration.
After 13 years, we are here, and we thank God.
Dancehall Queen Spice, USA’s Busta Rhymes, Popcaan, Ghana’s Shatta Wale, Bounty Killer, Rvssian, Jah Vinci, Shawn Storm, Sheba and Gaza Indu all sang alongside Vybz Kartel.
The national stadium in the Jamaican capital was at capacity when Vybz Kartel made his entrance, an hour late, dressed in a suit and tie.
His fans sang all the songs for him.
According to the reactions of people who waited in queues for 10 hours, the Vybz Kartel concert was the best plan to spend New Year’s Eve and start the New Year. No one was complaining.
Everyone was happy with the quality of the production and the guests.
They were also relieved to find that Vybz Kartel’s voice was still as they heard it before his incarceration.
At midnight, Vybz Kartel sang the Jamaican national anthem. There was a fireworks show.
