For almost six years, Mylène St-Sauveur has played the investigative sergeant Lily-Rose Bernard in the police series Alerts, which returns to the air on January 6 for a fifth season. At 34, the actress considers herself lucky to play the lead role in a series that returns every year and which gives her great stability.
“It’s a privilege, because we know that in the current context, there are few new series that last,” underlines Mylène St-Sauveur, met last November on the set of the fifth season ofAlerts.
“So we feel very lucky, the gang ofAlerts. We often say that we’re like family, but after five years of working together, that’s really the case.
“What’s fun about this series is that there is the main core of actors who always come back. But there are always new people who join the story to feed new intrigues. The regular actors, we’re a bit like the furniture in the series, but it’s the new characters who bring the emotion, the crises, the trauma.
New storylines
After a break of a few weeks, the members of the Cerberus squad are back in action this Monday for a new series of intrigues. The fifth season ofAlerts will be notably punctuated by an investigation into the disappearance of a young politician (played by Catherine Renaud).
“It’s a long-term investigation that will span several episodes,” says Mylène St-Sauveur.
“But I don’t think people are going to get tired of this plot, because it’s very exciting and there’s a lot of mystery around the politician’s character. She is a multi-faceted character who is really relevant today, because she is a woman in power. I think there will be some nice parallels to be made with recent news, particularly the misogynistic attacks to which female politicians are often victims.”

On a personal level, the couple of investigators formed by Lily-Rose (Mylène St-Sauveur) and Renaud (Frédéric Pierre) will try to recover from the loss of their baby.
“We found them a few weeks after this sad event, while Lily-Rose returned to work,” explains Mylène St-Sauveur.
“They are going to embark on a new project, that of finding a new house to move to. It will be fun to see them in positive energy. But the baby project is still there in their minds, and they are still trying.”
- The fifth season ofAlerts will be broadcast on TVA on Mondays at 9 p.m. starting January 6.
