A misadventure that begins again for Kiara, a 10-year-old girl suffering from leukemia. Thieves stole one of his piggy banks from Télévie, in a chip shop in Houdeng (La Louvière). This is the second time this has happened. The entire scene was filmed.

Three days before the New Year, around 1:30 a.m., two young people took Kiara’s piggy bank, placed on the counter of a chip shop, as evidenced by images from a surveillance camera.

“They asked us to charge their phone, because they had run out of battery. So, they stayed here for 15-20 minutes. During that time, another young girl, who was accompanying them, stole the piggy bank on the counter, while the gentleman distracted himself and chatted with us”, says Benjamin Chaltin, an employee of the chip shop.

A piggy bank left with the merchant two months ago, intended for cancer research. A collection of donations undertaken more than a year ago by Kiara, a 10-year-old girl suffering from acute leukemia.

For Benjamin Chaltin, this theft is incomprehensible. “It’s unfortunate because it’s an important cause, that the little girl doesn’t ask anyone for anything. She’s just trying to raise money for a good cause. Stealing money for sick people, I find that very small.”

Far from being demoralized, Kiara brought a new piggy bank to the chip shop this Friday afternoon. “We will never give up“, the young girl told us.

This is not the first time that thefts have occurred. Already last year, Kiara counted five of her stolen piggy banks. We then met the young girl and her family, angry and saddened by these repeated thefts. “I’m sad that people do this. I don’t know what to say. Maybe there will be karma,” Kiara reacted on February 21, 2024.

“It’s not a piggy bank to collect anything. It’s Télévie, it’s research. It’s cancer. Everyone can get this damn cancer.” said Angelo, Kiara’s dad.

The merchant hopes that the piggy bank can be returned as soon as possible. In 2024, young Kiara collected three tonnes of red coins for Operation Télévie.
