It’s a nightmare scenario every parent fears: having your car stolen with your child inside. It happened this week to Élodie in Courcelles. Fortunately, the story told by our colleagues at Sudinfo ended well.
This Thursday, January 2, Élodie’s car was stolen by two individuals around 5 a.m. The resident of Courcelles had just placed her 20-month-old daughter inside the vehicle.
When she went to get “an object”, two thugs tried to steal the car. “I ran towards them screaming that someone was trying to steal my car and that my daughter was inside”she told our colleagues at Sudinfo.
A few moments later, two vehicles (Elodie’s and the thugs’) stopped at the end of her street. “I think they realized that my baby was in the back seat. I had almost reached them when the person driving my vehicle got out to rush into his accomplice’s car. They They drove off at full speed and tried to run me over. I just had time to jump into a hedge to avoid the collision. I then ran towards my daughter, who was crying. I had them stop. It was only my daughter who mattered.”adds Élodie.
The two individuals finally left with… a diaper bag. “(…) The police called me a little later in the afternoon to tell me that they had found the empty bag, as well as my wallet, also empty. And a man also found clothes of my daughter, as well as my son’s card from Souvret. I hope that my identity card will also be found.
