For the eighth year, at the end of November, the Batsurguère valley organized an evening as part of documentary cinema at Omex, in conjunction with the departmental media library. This year, participants had the pleasure of welcoming the director of the film, Vincent Marie, a comic book lover and nature lover. He chose to put his two passions in the spotlight in the making of his documentary “The Disappearance of the Fireflies”.
This film invites you on a journey into French rurality, to meet farmers and its inhabitants who wonder about the transformations of the countryside, the arrival of new residents, the departures of artisans, human changes but also agricultural changes, landscapes that lead to the disappearance of certain animals and insects.
Each documentary is completed by comic strip artists who bring an artistic touch to the landscapes crossed, which modifies our view and shows the fragility of what surrounds us.
Vincent Marie wanted to give voice to those who do not have it and thus archive the changes in the rural world, the film like the comic strip leaves a trace on a reality that is always in motion.
