Aged 77, Yves Robert is passionate about stations and railways. In retirement, he takes advantage of his free time to travel by train and discover everything he can see from French stations. Yves’ count: no less than 2,900 stations and 29,000 kilometers of journeys completed. At the microphone of TF1, he explains how he does it: “The basis was the map, the time sheets that I collected and my phone”he explains.
Valençay: the most beautiful station in France?
To celebrate the report, Yves treated himself to the train journey he took as a child. An hour and twenty minutes by train between Nantes and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie in the Pays de la Loire region. He tells about his favorite station: “The first one that I would put at the top of my list is Valençay station, it’s a small, well-restored castle”relate l’expert.
At number two: “The Rochefort-sur-Mer station. There is earthenware everywhere with large vaults. For five years, I have scoured them all, seen them all, almost seen them all”says the retiree. All? Almost. There are still a few left to discover, notably in Plouaret and Lannion in Brittany.
