JVMag – Skeleton Crew: Review of episode 6

Who says new week, says Star Wars : Skeleton Crew with the release of the sixth episode on Disney+.

After a more toned down fifth chapter, we are treated to an episode that is a little more intimate and centered on the children.

So that everyone can read our review, the content is spoiler-free.

My opinion on this sixth episode

Before we start talking about this new episode, I assume that you have seen the previous episodes. Indeed, I will have to talk about certain past events and if you still haven’t watched the series, stop here and skip ahead to the technical point.

The episode picks up just after the betrayal of Jod Na Nawood and his “mutiny” in order to take the place of captain of the Onyx Cinder. From that moment on, the children manage to escape and Jod grabs the lightsaber.

So I expected to see the rest of this event, but nope. Here the story once again focuses on the children and returning to Onyx Cinder. For his part, Jod sees himself captured again by the pirates and will try yet another poker game.

Even though this episode is a little more intimate and shows the emotional state of the different protagonistsI found it rather average. Certainly, it is interesting to learn a little more about KB’s character, but the episode seemed to drag on. It’s not a disaster either, but the pace was too long even though the episode only lasts 34 minutes, credits and credits included. Honestly, I expected better, especially since Bryce Dallas Howard directed this episode.

Skeleton Crew: Episode 6 Review

I note, all the same, many alien races on the screen as well as the cute little “crabs”. It’s always a good point to find a plethora of creatures on the screen and reinforces the effect.Star Wars“.

Technical point

Unlike the scenario of this sixth episode, the technique of this one is impeccable. Between the deluge of special effects and its rather successful photography, I find nothing to complain about. The technical quality is, for me, a very good point of Skeleton Crew.

Skeleton Crew: Episode 6 Review

Musically speaking, it’s still very discreet and apart from the main theme of the series, I haven’t found anything transcendent yet.

Conclusion

For my part, I consider this sixth episode to be the least good of Skeleton Crew. I didn’t feel like the story had progressed and the various twists and turns could have been resolved in around ten minutes in the end. I also find it a shame that Jod was sidelined even though for me, he is the most interesting character in the series.

What’s more, This slowdown in the story worries me a little because there are only two episodes left before the end of the first season. However, we are not immune to a turnaround which could redistribute the cards again.

In the end, it’s a passable episode, but nice and it allows us to “slightly” begin the grand finale of the series.

We meet again Wednesday January 8, 2025 for the rest of Skeleton Crew.
