the essential
Last exhibition of the year at the Montesquieu gallery in Agen which highlights the works of students and leading artists from the Culture and Fine Arts association of Agen and Aquitaine.
L’Association Culture et Beaux-arts de l'Agenais is exhibiting the pottery workshop work and live models of its students at the Montesquieu art gallery in Agen until Saturday December 28, 2024.
The Culture and Fine Arts association of Agenais was founded 35 years ago by Dominique Bru, local artist, associate professor of visual arts and trainer at the museum. This association is the only one in Agen to offer a live model workshop. The nude, also called the living model, is a universal theme. This practice allows artists to develop their drawing skills. The body is a fascinating subject and its observation is a source of inspiration for painting and sculpting.
This association also offers art therapy sessions, an approach consisting of using artistic materials and the creative process aimed at better self-knowledge and assistance with self-expression.
Finally, a pottery, modeling and ceramic workshop is also open for all adults and children for beginners or advanced learners.
An anthology of works
The gallery welcomes seven artists and therefore multitudes of paintings, pottery and earthenware of all shapes and colors, mixing different techniques and mediums. Works, artists' proofs, sketches, paintings, delicate and aesthetic pottery, which are on sale for the occasion.
Gemma Forsyth is the potter who runs the introductory classes in throwing, modelling, plate working and pinching. Cécilia Maxwell runs the drawing workshop, all levels. Sylvie Marcheval runs the art therapy workshop, Sylvie Hart is in charge of the “living model” workshop and she is also a personal artist in frescoes and trompe l'oeil. Parent-child workshops are also organized by the association. Everything takes place in the association's premises hosted at the Media Library. An annual membership is required in addition to the price of sessions or subscriptions.
To discover this collective exhibition of student work, the Montesquieu gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. FREE ENTRANCE.
