Editions de la Charnie put online a video of Michel Baudryconcerning the tombs, in particular those of St-Denis-d'Orques, a town near Loué (Sarthe). “Let’s share our history, let’s preserve the tombs in our cemeteries.”
He warns about the state of cemeteries
The author of this work, Michel Baudry, was born in Clisson and today lives retired in St-Denis-d'Orques where his grandmother often looked after him. Authentic and curious about everything, he is especially passionate about history, which he works to pass on to future generations through the saving of numerous films and analog photos, the publication of books and today the production of this video .
“Let’s stop sacrificing these modest monuments”
“Our 30,000 French villages have 30,000 cemeteries like ours, but neither pyramids nor acropolis to bear witness to the existence of our predecessors. So let's stop sacrificing these modest monuments that are the tombs of our cemeteries: let's keep them as they are, even if the wear and tear of time takes place inexorably,” underlines Michel Baudry.
“An irreparable loss”
In the video posted online, Michel Baudry warns of a cruel reality:
“The cemeteries of our villages are threatened, their tombs are falling into oblivion. Worse: they are deposited, so that their location benefits others. With them, entire sections of our intimate and collective histories disappear. An irreparable loss, to which we should not resolve: let us preserve the modest tombs of our cemeteries, just as we conserve the prestigious vestiges of ancient times, even when they are in ruins! »
