An online investigation on the trail of a child molester, an eternal pollutant revealed in Switzerland, the energy transition deciphered, aesthetic medicine seduces and a Hail Mary on the 7:30 p.m. set, these are the five choices of the week from RTSinfo.
TESTIMONY – the “online tracking” of child criminals
The documentary “In the Shadow”, directed by Ludoc and posted on YouTube on Wednesday, traces a digital investigation carried out over several years. Starting from a disturbing meeting on Skype, the director followed the trail of a child molester active on the internet, while working closely with the authorities. He was the guest of Forum on Wednesday.
By following the trail of his interlocutor, Ludoc also discovers the existence of criminal networks on the darknet. “Predator manuals” are circulating, describing despicable methods for manipulating and raping children. “These guides even explain how to avoid attracting the attention of parents,” he laments.
And the director warns: “Predators go where there are children: today, it's the Internet.”

INVESTIGATION – in the footsteps of the eternal pollutant TFA
Swiss groundwater is contaminated by PFAS, perennial pollutants. Among them, trifluoroacetic acid, or TFA, is very present, especially in the plains, according to the Federal Office for the Environment. If the FOEN had not specified the most affected areas, RTSinfo reveals this information obtained thanks to the transparency law.
Trifluoroacetic acid, or TFA, is a man-made chemical. It belongs to the PFAS family, these so-called “eternal” pollutants because they do not degrade in the environment. TFA comes primarily from two sources: refrigeration products and certain pesticides. This explains its high concentration in groundwater in lowland regions, where agriculture is dominant.

DECRYPTION – the energy transition, really?
Everyone is talking about the “energy transition” which is supposed to mitigate climate change thanks to renewable energies. But this concept is based on an “erroneous” reading of history, believes Jean-Baptiste Fressoz. For the historian, we must above all ask the question of the size of the economy and the use of resources.
The energy transition, “it’s more of a slogan than a scientific notion”, underlines Jean-Baptiste Fressoz, in Tout un monde. The historian of science, technology and the environment points out the current discourse, which makes people believe that one energy replaces another when they are used in symbiosis. The production of energy can even be boosted by new energy.
