Wednesday evening, during the last edition of Cash for Rares XXL on the German television channel ZDFa glass Art object, certainly kitsch in the eyes of many, has reached a record price. The couple Augustin Corral and Gaby Glod from Luxembourg brought an Art Nouveau vase in the shape of a flower from the Daum factory in Nancy dating from around 1900, estimated by the Colmar expert Schulte-Goltz at a value of between 6,000 and 9,000 euros.

The two owners originally hoped to get around 200 euros for the item inherited from a friend, in order to be able to afford a parachute jump. But the dealers were so enthusiastic about the copy that they quickly raised the price in a real bidding war.
Finally, the two Luxembourgers agreed with the traders on a sale price of 7,000 euros. A sensational result that even surprised presenter Horst Lichter. “So you can rent your own plane and jump out,” he commented with a laugh.
Such finds of insignificant bric-a-brac that turn out to be a real rarity are always a highlight for viewers of Cash for rares. The couple can now enjoy an unexpected financial windfall and finance their parachute jump in complete security.
