A stone’s throw from Geneva, Saint-Julien-en-Genevois is getting ready to vibrate during the 17th edition of the Guitare en Scène festival. After names as prestigious as Simple Minds, or Dream Theater, Carlos Santana joins the lineup. Jacques Falda, director of Guitare en scène, was my guest.

“Santana at Guitare en Scène, it’s magical,” confides Jacques Falda, director of the festival, visibly delighted with this long-awaited announcement. Legendary guitarist Santana will perform on July 19, a performance made possible through months of hard work. “It was not won. With very few dates available, getting this confirmation was a big relief for the whole team,” he explains.

In addition to this “guitar hero”, the festival will welcome Simple Minds on July 16, an exclusive for the cult New Wave group. On Friday July 18, it’s time for an exceptional evening with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, accompanied by Dream Theater, promising breathtaking synergy between these long-time artist friends.

But Guitare en Scène is not limited to legends. Nik West, the queen of bass, will be there with her electrifying energy. Jacques Falda emphasizes that his arrival is the result of a friendship with Santana, thus creating a unique atmosphere where artists and enthusiasts meet. “It’s often an evening for friends, and that enormously motivates the volunteers who make this event possible.”

A unique model in the world of festivals

With a capacity limited to 5,000 spectators per evening, Guitare en Scène is distinguished by its intimate atmosphere, offering festival-goers a rare proximity to the artists. “Santana was used to stadiums, but here he will find a totally different atmosphere, almost family,” specifies the director. A formula which attracts not only the public, but also artists delighted to be part of such a dynamic.

Despite a difficult economic context for festivals, Guitare en Scène continues to develop thanks to rigorous management and infectious passion. The program remains partly to be revealed, particularly for the Thursday evening. But one thing is certain: with such energy and an impressive track record, this festival remains an essential reference.

See you from July 16 to 19, 2024 in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois for a summer dedicated to the guitar and musical passion.
