LE FIGARO. – Is the year 2024 exceptional for the French cinema ?
HUGO SÉLIGNAC. – For the first time, the market share of French films exceeds that of American films. It is close to 50%. The strike in Hollywood slowed down American production but did not dry it up. Dune 2, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Joker : madness for two, Vaiana 2 or Gladiator 2 came out. But some didn’t work. The French public is a sublime mix, demanding and curious. He sanctions or celebrates. Juror #2the latest Clint Eastwood, is a worldwide flop except in France (more than 1.5 million admissions). This was already the case with The FabelmansSteven Spielberg, et Babylonby Damien Chazelle.
