While a (very) beautiful book (from Assouline) retraces the epic and style of the Loro Piana family, the Italian house, now in the fold of LVMH, stands out from the crowd with collections as exquisite and singular as they are timeless .
It has been several years since the “ coffee table books » dedicated to luxury brands say more about the egology of the coffee table than the history of fashion. Which partly excuses our reservations upon receiving this giant book published in a box set by Assouline on the occasion of 100 years of Loro Piana. But in nine kilos and 196 pages, Master of Fibres got the better of our skepticism. The black and white photographs of the founding family (in line with the chic of the Kennedys and Agnelli), the tender or humorous advertisements from the 1980s-1990s, the sublime landscapes of Mongolia, where cashmere is sourced, or of Peru, Where the vicuña comes from, the well-crafted text by journalist Nicholas Foulkes, reflects the image of the house: very, very high quality.
