The Moulin de Pascale, bed and breakfast in Espelette, has certainly slowed down in this winter season, but this Saturday, December 14, there were some routine upheavals. The Les Artemisias association presented its first event, “Sacré-es”, after having had to cancel it the previous weekend due to bad weather.
Four artists thus punctuated the afternoon, taking advantage of the rare clearings or the warm mill room, cozy atmosphere around the candles and the story “The voice of the sands” by Henri Gougaud, narrated by Isabelle Etcheverry.

The dancer Marie-Pierre Tellechea is used to performances and knows how to adapt to the place, she appeared here from the stream, like a nascent naiad before allowing her dress to be scratched by the brambles and finishing very lightly, freed from her plant chains. This original and beautiful painting was set to music by Sonia Kavyrchine who performed a piece of her composition on the transverse flute.
A participatory experience
The street lent itself to the giant canvases created by Marion Bénard who left her nurse’s coat in favor of a painter’s apron.
The public present was not only observers, they were able to participate in a gesture workshop led by Marie-Pierre Tellechea. “What surprised me was that we didn’t know each other but the feeling passed. It’s an exchange of meetings, it’s usual at the mill but here, unlike other days when I welcome my clients, I let myself be carried away! », rejoices Pascale Gueslot, co-owner of the mill, alongside her son Léo Briceno.

The Artemisias promise new events of this type, respecting the association’s project: offering itinerant, participatory, multidisciplinary and evolving artistic performances, highlighting values of connection, human community, exchange of creative tools , sharing of meaning and accessibility. “We believe that creativity allows us to integrate knowledge and learning in a fluid way, that sharing an aesthetic and sensory emotion breaks down resistance,” confides Marion Bénard.
