“I really like romance and fantasy”
Victoria Leclere-Leconte, 17, a student at Le Verrier high school, fell in love with the novel: The Queen without a Kingdom by Holly Black, final volume of a trilogy released in 2022: I discovered it thanks to social networks and I decided to give it a try because I really like romance and fantasy.

I didn’t really like the first volume because I found that it lacked a bit of action and the story was quite flat. But from volume 2, my opinion changed and I started to really appreciate it thanks to plot twist finale that creates suspense »

Politics and conspiracies
The plot mixes politics and conspiracies as well as a ennemis to lover between Cardan and Jude, the heroes, all in a fantastic universe.
I loved the development of the characters, especially Cardan and Jude. At the beginning, we hate Cardan because of his aggressive behavior, but we understand him better in volume 3. Jude often acts in the shadows, without revealing anything, even to the reader; which makes the story very gripping.

Victoria says that it was a book that made her want to read more and that she has since bought two others in the same universe. She concludes: Although I have read other novels since then, none have gripped me as much as this one.
