From Tuesday January 7 at 10 p.m.Télé-Québec keeps us in suspense with Rematch, the first international series produced and scripted by Yan England. A psychological thriller inspired by true events.
We dive into the fascinating world of chess and meet the intriguing character Garry Kasparov, the best chess player of all time, who faces IBM’s supercomputer, Deep Blue. What follows is a disturbing face-to-face between man and machine that will make it a defining moment in the history of technology.
With this production, Yan England won the prestigious Grand Prize at the Séries Mania television festivalin Lille, France last March. By awarding him this high distinction, the jury for the international section highlighted the high quality of the series: “Because it’s a modern fairy tale that we need today.” Because there is rhythm, tension and the momentum of a thriller, but it is a simple story about a complex game: chess*. »
Rematch explores the strategies of the game while touching on universal themes such as the importance of family, the role of the ego and the growing impact of “machines” in our lives. All this, with unique characters, a careful cinematographic aesthetic and a breathtaking pace.
