“Every year, we ask ourselves the question of whether we continue or not. » And yet, like every year, since 2017, Michaël Gérard and his teams succeed in organizing the Millésime festival. For its eighth editionif we count that of 2020 canceled 48 hours before, due to a health crisis, the festival will be held on June 6 and 7 at the Hippodrome de La Réole (Gironde).

A casting without big headliners

For the occasion, around forty artists will perform on the two stages made available over two evenings. A device already tested last year. With only two stages, Michaël Gérard, festival director, has a even greater attention on the line-up offered to festival-goers. “We are forced to do narrower programming. On three scenes, we could afford to make mistakes, here we have to target better,” he explains.

Which doesn’t stop him from trying bets. This year, the emphasis was on drum and bass, “which was less highlighted during the last three editions”, according to the director’s admissions. In this sense, the groups Audio and Black Sun Empire, two big headliners, will perform at La Réole this year.

For the oldest, Manu Le Malin and Radium will also be presentjust like Blaame, a hard-techno music group very popular among young people.

An attractive cast, however devoid of big names. An assumed desire of the organization. “We don’t want headliners worth tens of thousands of euros, that’s not our policy at all. We are really targeting a niche audience, we are not in the same niche as other festivals. »

Expected surprises

In addition to the artists, the Millésime 2025 festival will pay particular attention to the decor. “There is real work underway, I think festival-goers will be pleasantly surprised. » Otherwise, there will also be the traditional village, open from 12 p.m., with entertainment, a food truck, a wellness area. A optimal offer for an audience that diversifies from year to year. “We went from an audience of pure ravers to a more homogeneous audience thanks to the growing popularity of the festival. The age of festival-goers ranges from 18 to 45,” says Michaël Gérard.

A great mark of confidence for a team which dedicates itself throughout the year to ensure only two evenings of shows. “It’s still hanging on a thread,” he confides, while congratulating himself for having preserved its spirit. “We are a festival on a human scale and we really want to stay that way. » Proof to the contrary, it is not the many festival-goers expected in June who will say the opposite.
