Was the eleventh edition of the “I Love Techno” festival, organized in Montpellier since 2011, the last? The news is in any case not good for fans of the event: the multinational Live Nation, which organizes several festivals of this type in France, has just announced on the website of the Montpellier event that there will would not have a festival in 2025.

After 11 editions of the festival in France, the conditions are no longer met to offer you an edition worthy of it.“, explains Live Nation, which believes that it “So it’s time to rethink I Love Techno“.

According to our colleagues at Midi Libre, I Love Techno “sought to renew itself, to refresh its image“for several months, and intended to propose”a new innovative project“. It ultimately remained in a draft state,“lack of artistic availability” depending on the organization.

Already, in 2019, the festival had sought to reinvent itself in the face of a drop in attendance at this type of event. Since the record number of festival-goers was reached in 2013, at 25,000 spectators, it has fallen from year to year, despite the renewal of the programming. In 2019, there were only 18,000.

The health crisis did not help, leading to two consecutive cancellations in 2020 and 2021. Then, for the relaunch of the festival in 2022, Live Nation moved its event historically scheduled in December to the beginning of spring, and concerts took place at the Opéra Comédie and the Halle Tropisme, in addition to the Parc-expo de Pérols.

All is not lost, however, for fans of electronic music who were impatiently awaiting the start of spring to enjoy the festival, since the organizers left an enigmatic message on their website. They hope that “2026 will undoubtedly bring us together again, in the meantime take care of yourself“. Without specifying, therefore, whether the city of Montpellier will always be the beating heart of the festivities.
