the essential
The meeting of the festival committee was heard by many residents attracted by the event.
New team, new location for the first Christmas market set up this year by the dynamic team of the Quillan festival committee which continues to grow. Traditionally organized at the gymnasium by the community of communes, this essential pre-holiday event took place at Place de la République on Saturday December 14. At the helm, two women with great energy, Aurélie Perez, president of the festival committee, and Sophie Bouttier, treasurer and deputy in charge of culture, open the door behind the scenes of this great first.
Two markets in one
This is a wonderful adventure just a few days before Christmas: “Under the leadership of Pierre Castel, we wanted to move these Christmas celebrations to energize the heart of the city. Today, it is the meeting of two markets, one festive and gourmet on Place de la République, the ‘other weekly and traditional along the promenade’.
Four superb wooden chalets purchased by the town hall for the contribution to this market were installed around the square and housed the associations who came to help celebrate Christmas traditions, wines and hot chocolates, chestnuts and other delicacies. Through the stands of various local producers, there was room for magic and authenticity throughout this magical day. From the morning, entertainment took over the place and throughout each activity, the Christmas spirit was there.
Entertainment
The parade orchestrated by the On Stage troop took possession of the site three times, marveling young and old who enthusiastically followed the wanderings of Minnie, Mickey, Marcus and Paw Patrol. As for Laurent and Aurore’s carriage, decked out in all its finery and led by their mare Tamanalou, it led the children through the streets of the city of 3 Quilles.
Santa Claus, entertainment personality and actor in the television series Tomorrow belongs to you, came to meet the children to distribute gifts and sweets. A magical moment for the toddlers, some a little timid, but all curious to approach the old man all dressed in red.
For this first experience off the beaten track, the magic worked by offering the Quillanais a delightful prelude to the holidays to come.
