INTERVIEW. “Great cultural food”, a creative banquet at the Saint-Céré Factory

The next Banquet on December 19 at the Usine, in Saint-Céré, puts food and culture into perspective. Interview with the artist Marin Clavaguera-Pratx at the initiative of these shared and participatory meals, punctuated with artistic impromptu, designed with the ScénOgraph amateur troupe.

This time, what is it about?

I chose this theme which is really in the first cycle of the season “artist and society” and there are many shows, in the theater’s programming from October to the end of December, which deal with this theme, cultural food and how we get hold of it. We have programmed the show “Mazùt” (Baro d’evel troupe) in particular, which offers the position of artist-researcher, and the show “Must we separate the man from the artist” (Étienne Gaudillère and Giulia Foïs) has positioned itself politically to explore the question of the public’s relationship to the artist and his work… This banquet is a moment of sharing and reflection, which continues and closes this cycle.

What is the idea of this banquet?

The idea is to question spectators about the consumption of cultural works, and therefore ask ourselves what our relationship is with cultural consumption, how we position ourselves, we consume it, we digest it. Echoing bad food, McDonald’s etc. We will rely a lot on the texts of Rodrigo García, a writer and director who received much media attention in the 2000s. He says that an artist’s name can become a brand. We also feature two artists who relate as workers to the world of live performance work, far from the profession-passion discourse… this evening will be strewn with surprises and games, playful skits inspired by Deschiens, a clown duo making us take part in a quiz. We’re going to have fun, we’re all going to eat together, in the middle of questions about digestion. And after this participatory and fun moment, the whole troupe will represent, at dessert time, the great family of live performance in , inviting the reflections and approaches of multiple artists, known or unknown. It’s an unusual, unusual time, different from the broadcast of more traditional shows. And all spectators will be invited to play the game, get involved, get people to exchange ideas and meet each other…

Thursday, December 19 at 7:30 p.m., at the Usine theater.
