The Celtic Circle from Guérande (Loire-Atlantique) Bro Gwenrann did not escape the ax of the Pays de la Loire region. As with other festivals and cultural events, the president of the regional council Christelle Morançais (Horizons party) has decided to eliminate the subsidy granted each year to the Celtics of Guérande.
This event in honor of the Brittany and Celtic cultures welcomes thousands of spectators and hundreds of singers, musicians and dancers over a weekend in August.
The 2025 edition assured but questions for the following ones
For the 2025 edition, which will take place from August 8 to 10, it will be necessary to do without the €3,600 from the Region.
“This sum will not come into the Celtics 2025 budget of €100,000, while we had a deficit of €8,000 during the last edition. Probably, the departmental subsidy will suffer the same fate. The town hall of Guérande and the CapAtlantique agglomeration have assured us that their subsidy will continue. The 2025 edition will be assured, but we can wonder about the following ones. It will also depend on the corporate sponsorships that we can obtain,” Christophe Josso, who has just given up his place as president to Sylvie Monvillers, tells the Echo of the Peninsula, while remaining with the Celtics organization.
The 2025 meetings
Also in 2025, Bro Gwenrann will be a candidate for the first label, bronze, silver, or gold, of the new stage suite which has just been created, with 35 dancers and in collaboration with the Malville group, during a single performance on August 15, 2025 in Vannes.
Bro Gwenrann will receive the Music Conservatory and its students who come to learn about Breton culture and will participate in the Sillon de Bretagne Festival and Sainte-Anne du Pouliguen, in July 2025.
Useful: Bro Gwenrann, 5C, rue de Mesquer, in Guérande.bro-gwenrann.org. Membership possible during the year, after free trial sessions, for all, children, teenagers and adults
