INTERVIEW – The tenor, who had already distinguished himself during the closing of the Olympic Games at the Stade de , delivered a very moving interpretation of Schubert’s “Ave Maria”, during the major concert which followed the reopening ceremony of the cathedral. He comes back for Le Figaro on this historic moment and how he experienced it.

If the reopening ceremony was marked by the remarkable performances of fervor, accuracy and homogeneity of the Maîtrise de Notre-Dame de , who will undoubtedly remain as the great heroine of this evening full of contemplation, the performance of the tenor Benjamin Bernheim will remain as one of the highlights of the concert that followed. Filmed inside the cathedral itself, with half-closed eyes, all in humility but visibly inhabited, the man who had already distinguished himself during the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games delivered a Hail Mary of Schubert in restraint and beautiful delicacy. Accompanied by a Radio France philharmonic orchestra transported as much by the solemnity of the place and the moment as by the very invested direction of the Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel. The day after this historic evening, the singer was kind enough to come back for us to this « unique moment in a life ».
