The new project of the museum center of the city of Saint-Étienne is common to Couriot-Musée de la mine and the Museum of Art and Industry. It engages these two key institutions in the region in transversal actions of which the Saint-Étienne 1780-1856 r/evolutions exhibition which was held from October 21, 2022 to June 11, 2023 is a first example.
The ambition of this exhibition is to reveal the birth of industry in France and the place of the Saint-Etienne basin in the emergence of major concepts which still govern processes on a global scale today: natural carbon resources, birth of capitalism, emergence of the proletariat, opening of markets, importance of the machine.
The device developed by the museum teams is new and replaces the traditional virtual tour which only reproduces the in-situ experience. It is a tool for promoting research for a very different approach from the more traditional one offered by the publication Industrial Revolution, Saint-Étienne.
Here the public steps into the shoes of characters whose destiny they choose and becomes an actor in the Industrial Revolution.

Industrial Culture: where are we?
Each year, Amcsti publishes a review, entitled the Bulletinwhich brings together initiatives and reflections from CSTI professionals around a common theme at the Congress. For this 42e congress, it was a question of “what is the place of the “I” in the CSTI? “.
The second chapter will highlight industry exhibitions as well as scientific and industrial tourism. These initiatives highlight the rich industrial heritage of our society as well as encourage the public to discover behind the scenes of the industry, from prototyping to production.
