“To end the year 2024, I wanted to reveal a portrait of the city that I love, with its must-sees, what makes its charm, its assets.” Françoise Roussel is full of praise for Dieppe (Seine-Maritime), the city where she was born and she wanted to honor her through an exhibition visible in the Oxygène gallery, in Neuville, until December 20 2024.
About twenty oil paintings are to be discovered, with “everything that makes life in Dieppe: the anglers, the sea professionals, the bars, the cliffs,” she lists.
Discovering the monotype
Each time she paints, the artist is amazed by the particularity of the city: “What is extraordinary here is that the colors change all the time.”
Admiring the Impressionist artists, Françoise Roussel tried to follow in their footsteps. She learned about oil painting from Jean-Jacques Charles in Dieppe and from Fécampoise Sophie Justet.
During her exhibition, she will introduce interested parties to the monotype. “This is a unique print on paper, we work on a glass plate which we paint. Then, we stick the paint to a sheet to have something unique,” explains the Dieppoise.
Introduction to monotype takes place at the Atelier des arts, on Wednesday December 11 and 18 between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. or on Thursday 12, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Exhibition at the Oxygène gallery, in Neuville-lès-Dieppe. Free entry until December 20, Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Closed Tuesday morning. For workshops, it is necessary to register on 02 35 40 28 87.
