Demain Otherwise relaunches its activities with a screening

Saturday November 30, 2024 at 3:30 p.m., the association Tomorrow Differently organizes the screening of the film The Boxer Theory in the village hall Courtonne-la-Meurdrac (Calvados).

“We find the same thing at our level”

In this documentary, director Nathanaël Coste investigates the Drôme valley to understand how farmers adapt to climate change: heat waves, drought, late frost… “We find the same thing on our scale, in our small valley », note Meliane Sansonpresident, and Sophie Heurtinsecretary of the association.

This screening is organized as part of Alimenterre, an international festival which, “around a selection of documentary films, brings citizens to learn about and understand agricultural and food issues in France and around the world”, perhaps we read on the event website.

After the film, several speakers will speak: shepherd, baker, farmer…

“They represent the changes we want to make in our lives. We very much hope that there are not only convinced people in the room. We want there to be a debate! »

Why not relaunch the festival

For the two volunteers, this meeting is also a way to relaunch Tomorrow Otherwise. The Courtonnaise association aims to “promote sustainable development, organic and sustainable agriculture, new foods and other forms of consumption”.

For 3 years, from 2017 to 2019, the Demain Otherwise team set up a festival of the same name in the town: over the course of a weekend, screenings, round tables and conferences followed one another, “it was very complete “. The first edition even welcomed Michel Onfray. “It took a lot of energy,” remember the two women, who were already there. Then “the Covid stopped us in our momentum”, they regret. Apart from a citizen café on the theme of water in March 2022, the association has been put on hold.

With a third member of the office, Nadine Maillet (treasurer), and a few people, they hope that Saturday’s screening “will create a dynamic” and encourage people to join them. And why not set up a 4th edition of the Demain Otherwise festival…
