Jacky Malartic, well known in Marmande as a defender of veterans and former chef at the Moulin Rouge, died last week at the age of 83.
In September 2022, he received the medal of the National Order of Merit during the congress of the Fraternal Union of Veterans.
A great career at the Moulin Rouge for this Marmandais
After four medals military and the Agricultural Merit medal, this completed an arsenal of recognition for all of his professional and associative dedication.
Jacky Malartic, born July 1, 1941 in Marmande, started in the restaurant business. But then came the Algerian War where he was called up from May 1, 1961 until January 15, 1963.
He returned to the kitchen in Paris as head chef at Scribe then as sous chef then head chef and Master Worker at Moulin Rouge.
Very active retirement
After 33 years spent in the famous cabaret, he returned to Marmande to spend a not-so-peaceful retirement since he was going to get involved in local life, with veterans as president of the UFAC, but also , for example, as a member of the Council of the Wise.
He wrote a book published by Edilivre, » Called from Algeria 1954-1964, do you remember your war? “.
