Victoria Silvstedt at Eurovision 2025? The odds are low but this prospect is not impossible. The 50-year-old model, presenter and ex-ski champion is among the candidates selected for the Melodifestivalen (“The song festival”, in French), the telehook used to designate the artist who will represent Sweden during the next edition of the competition. She will perform the song Love it !

The Swedish channel SVT formalized the casting of its music show this Tuesday. And for Victoria Silvstedt, the competition promises to be tough since, among the other singers in competition are Måns Zelmerlöw, winner of Eurovision 2015, and John Lundvik, 5th in Eurovision 2019.

A gold album in Sweden in 1999

The one who was the “playmate of the year” for the magazine Playboy in 1997 is not a complete beginner in the musical field. His participation in Melodifestivalen therefore marks his return to the forefront of the media scene. This show created in 1958 is the most popular entertainment in the country. The 2024 edition was followed on average by 2.3 million people – for a population of 10 million – with an average audience share of 76% per evening.

Melodifestivalen 2025 will take place over six evenings in February and March. The elimination phases, during which only public votes are taken into account, will be held in several cities in Sweden (Luleå, Gothenburg, Malmö, etc.) every Saturday between February 1 and March 1. Victoria Silvstedt will thus participate in the show on March 1 in Jönköping.

The final will take place on March 8 in Stockholm. The public and international juries will decide between the candidates still in the running and the artist who wins will represent Sweden at Eurovision 2025 with their song in May in Basel (Switzerland).
