“Big Swimmer”, the sublime new album from the English duo King Hannah

King Hannah, the phenomenon group of the moment, has just released a second album, Big Swimmer -the great swimmer in French.

Between folk, trip hop and post-punk, this album immerses us in the rich and captivating world of the English. King Hannah is a mixed duo from Liverpool. They made a name for themselves with a first attempt in 2022, a little pop rock gem that directly placed the duo in the family of the legendary Portishead and PJ Harvey, no less!

For this new album, he set off on the American roads to explore the infinite landscapes of New Mexico. Result: 11 great songs as wild as they are melancholic and cinematic, between electric explosions and a caressing Americana.

This latest project illustrates the perfect mastery of such different genres. King Hannah deploys a whole sound arsenal of raw sensuality, gothic fever and primitive groove. If it is more eclectic, the album is also more political, taking its source from the current disillusionments that are the rise of extremes and confinement. Anything but formatted, the king of the riff and the queen of hearts, deny themselves nothing. And all this preserves the uniformity of the album as a whole.

King Hannah is able to intertwine softness and noise, dissonant guitars and soaring voices. Nothing extreme or too committed on this album, just a logbook in the form of a road movie musical to encourage us to follow our dreams, crucial in these troubled times…
