Only a few days left before discovering the American rapper’s twelfth album, of which a first extract has already been revealed.
Only ten days of patience left. Eminem had revealed that his twelfth studio album would be released this summer. He revealed the exact date this Tuesday, July 2. The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) will be available on Friday, July 12. The rapper makes the announcement with a video that is both humorous and terrifying.
The clip features a woman giving birth in a hospital on a stormy night. The baby is born without breathing but ends up crying after a vigorous spanking from the doctor. Placed in his mother’s arms, he suddenly opens his completely black eyes and reveals a snake’s tongue while horns grow on his skull.
This announcement comes on the eve of the release of Tobeythe second single from the album. The 51-year-old rapper has already revealed a first one, Houdinion May 31st. On March 19th, his friend Dr. Dre had assured on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live that this new opus would be “crazy”, specifying having participated in its development.
After four years of absence
Eminem announced the release of this new album last April. As its title, “The Death of Slim Shady”, indicates, it will mark the end of his alter-ego Slim Shady, the outrageous character at the origin of his most violent songs. In May, the rapper had even published a fake obituary of this character in the Detroit Free Press daily, as reported by Rolling Stone.
Eminem’s last album was released in 2020. It was titled Music to Be Murdered Bythis 20-song opus featured collaborations with Black Thought, Q-Tip, Ed Sheeran, Anderson .Paak, Young MA, and even Juice WRLDThe album was a huge success and reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
Since then, the rapper has released in 2022 Curtain Call 2the second part of the compilation of his best tracks, which brings together tracks from all his albums since Relapsereleased in 2009, as well as some unreleased tracks.
