There are encounters that we never forget. Particularly those who forge a destiny. Jamel Debbouze testified to this during his appearance on the show 8:30 p.m. Le Dimanche this weekend, remembering his meeting in his early days with Jean-Pierre Bacri.

At the time, the filmmaker and playwright, with his partner the director and actress Agnès Jaoui, took the young actor under his wing. “It was the meeting of my life,” confided Jamel Debbouze, welcoming in passing the lack of “judgments” of the couple, who took each person “as you are”.

Watching a video of him listening to a voice message from Jean-Pierre Bacri before his first Olympia, Jamel Debbouze’s face broke into a big smile: “A super important moment for me, it was my first Olympia and being carried by him is galvanizing. It gave me wings. Having Jean-Pierre Bacri in your ear telling you “It’s good, keep going, go for it, you’re made for this”, it’s the best motivation you can have.”

The 49-year-old comedian then commented on the images of his touching tribute to Agnès Jaoui when he presented her with the Honorary César in February (24). An evening marked by the absence of Jean-Pierre Bacri, whom Jamel Debbouze nevertheless had the impression of having had by his side during this emotional moment.

“He has never left me since he left, but it’s true that that evening, it was special to be able to tell Agnès what I felt. It’s very difficult, there is a lot of modesty between us and I had never told him in person,” he admitted. “And then there, in front of all these cameras, in front of all these people, displaying her feelings… It was weird, but I loved doing it because I saw that she was deeply moved and that’s the greatest lady of cinema we have in . To have lived at the same time as them is lucky!”

Jamel Debbouze will return to the stage with his Jamel Comedy Club during a tour which will include, on March 21 and 22, 2025, the Dôme de .
