Usher still looks dashing at 46 years old. The singer confided to “People” the real physical activity, according to him, which keeps him in shape and which he has been practicing for a very, very long time.
Usher believes that one sport in particular helps him stay young and in good shape.
The 46-year-old R&B star revealed she roller skates regularly to maintain her physique and energy.
In a recent interview with “People,” Usher said, “skating has always kept me young. And I think it’s a necessity for young people these days. Everyone spends so much time scrolling.
Earlier this month, DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love and model Liberty Ross opened Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace, a full-service roller skating facility at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Besides being a form of exercise, Usher said roller skating can also be a form of self-expression.
“It’s a way of self-care,” the Grammy-winning artist said. “Freedom and expression, I really feel like it’s a language when you go deeper into skating cultures for rhythm, period. And people need to understand how much fun it is.”
Usher added that he hopes to see his fellow musicians at the rink soon.
“Dre, Snoop (Dogg) and Pharrell (Williams) would be like crazy if they came here,” he said. “(Hip-hop group) NWA was formed because of skaters, and a lot of those early hip-hop groups could only get space to perform in skating rinks. I still remember my concerts in ice rinks when I was a child. This has always been the terrain of culture.”
The singer of “Yeah!” joked that he would spend more time at the rink than in the kitchen during the holiday season.
“I wouldn’t count on me for your Thanksgiving dinner,” Usher joked. “No, no. Maybe I could make some macaroni and cheese and some banana pudding, but that’s about it.”
