A wind of novelty is blowing through the Liège contemporary Art scene with the creation of OLA, the ASBL of Liégeois Operators in Contemporary Art. Bringing together 22 structures, this network pools resources and brings together local actors around a common mission: supporting and promoting contemporary artists and their practices.
The idea, born on June 21, 2022, took off thanks to the support of the Uhoda group and the Province of Liège, alongside the installation of Daniel Buren at the Gare des Guillemins. In October, a first brochure informing of the programming of the fifteen places included in this structure was published.
It was on the occasion of the departure of Daniel Buren’s work that OLA formalized its identity with a logo signed Mikail Koçak, a biannual brochure, a website (www.olaliege.com) and an Instagram page (@ olaliege). For responsible distribution, the flyers are also distributed by bicycle by Rayon 9.
We also find OLA with Art au Center, the exhibition route of empty windows in downtown Liège. For the 15th Art at the Center proposal, OLA operators were invited to propose an artist of their choice and occupy a window. The operation takes place from October 17 to December 31.
Finally, the TALK TALK program, an annual cycle of conferences and meetings, completes the non-profit organization’s offering by giving a voice to artists, curators and critics.
