A high-level parliamentary delegation is taking part in the work of the 70th annual session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which takes place from November 22 to 25 in Montreal, Canada.
The Moroccan Parliament is participating in the work of this session in its capacity as a Mediterranean associate member of NATO, said the House of Representatives in a press release, specifying that the Moroccan delegation includes the first vice-president of the Chamber, from the Authenticity group. and Modernity, Mohamed Sabbari, as well as MP Saber El Kiaf, from the National Rally of Independents group.
According to the same source, the members of the delegation participated in the work of the plenary session, as well as in the meetings of the Assembly committees, in particular the Committee on Democracy and Security, the Committee on the Economy and security, the Defense and Security Commission and the Political Commission.
During this session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, several themes were discussed, in particular supporting the current transformation of NATO in the wake of the Washington Summit, to anchor this transformation in democratic values NATO Commons, fully implement it and provide it with sustainable resources.
Shaping the future of NATO and the Assembly’s partnerships, responding to climate change and technology challenges and economic and security partnerships in Asia were also at the center of the themes discussed during the parliamentary session, specifies the press release.
The participants also discussed current challenges in the Western Balkans region, strategies aimed at supporting partners and strengthening relations with the countries of the South, the commitment of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO to support stability in regions of high strategic importance and the strengthening of a broader dialogue on international issues, it was continued.
