David Fernandez, the director of cultural affairs, recently presented the summer program of events in the Blanquetière city. As the sun and heat seem to be setting in, we know more about the events that will take place next July and August.

From the Allées des Marronniers and Tivoli, to the island of Sourniès via Place de la République, the banks of the Aude or even the Piano Museum, the places of entertainment are multiple and eclectic.

“The beautiful star”, the City refers to the work and spirit of the local boy, the emblematic poet and writer Joseph Delteil. The imprint of the Pieussan writer was the driving force and the framework of the various themes proposed this summer. In fact, a series of activities will be set up around street and stage arts, always accompanied by a certain proximity with the public. Activities that are somehow related to the unmissable local carnival. Clowns, acrobats, jugglers and also dancers, singers and musicians, so many artists who, sometimes, will evolve among onlookers with the idea of ​​a voluntary festive symbiosis.

Two months of programming at Place de la République

Tuesday, July 2: Toto fanfare – Cie Les frères Locomotive. July 9: The Rainbow Man and His Angels – Cie Clowns dans la sciure. July 16: White Beans jazz quartet. July 23: Young funky brass. July 30: Cyclos clowns – Cie Les enjoliveurs. August 6: Bomb’Zatomik – French song. August 13: La Tortue – Cie Les enjoliveurs. August 20: L’affaire à Swing quartet of jazz, swing and New Orleans. August 27: La lutinery, people of legends – Cie Clowns dans la sciure.

Shows on the Aude on the island of Sourniès

Saturday August 24 from 9 p.m.: The Brel Promise. No Arnaud Askoy is not Brel but to hear and see him you could believe it. A musical show for those who dreamed of applauding Jacques Brel.

Sunday August 25, concert Sweet France with Nicolas Gardel and the Mozart Toulouse orchestra. A father in love with the accordion, memories of a mother humming Luis Mariano to him; it is by remembering his childhood that the trumpeter. Nicolas Gardel wanted to pay tribute to the greats of French song.

The taverns on the banks of Aude

On July 6 and 20, August 10 and 17 from 5:30 p.m., the small town’s taverns will come alive for everyone.

Outdoor cinema

Thanks to the Ciném’Aude competition, two screenings are offered free of charge on Sunday July 21 and Friday August 23 at 9:30 p.m. on the island of Sourniès.

To this program, we must nevertheless add the 6th edition of the Percu’Sud percussion academy which will be held at the Institut Saint-Joseph from Saturday July 20 to 27 (children from 8 years old) open to all (number limited places). Almost at the same time, the 24th edition of the Nava festival will be held from July 25 to August 3 at the Château de Flandry.

In a musical register, the new season at the Piano Museum auditorium continues until October 10.

The traditional fireworks display from the banks of the Aude on Thursday July 13 will celebrate the National Day. Finally, the city’s night market will be held every Tuesday at Place de la République from July 2 to August 27.

Please note that this year a special emphasis will be placed on the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of the city and the Haute Vallée. Conference, exhibition and musical performances will be organized from August 17 to 20.
