The brand, which is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, is pulling out all the stops to make these end-of-year celebrations a magical moment.
“We are playing our year during this Christmas period.” The sentence may seem serious but Philippe Sempéré, the president of Galeries Lafayette in Béziers, slips it into a smile while the brand, which is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, was in celebration this Saturday, November 23. Free hot chocolate or glass of champagne, concert with Gospel Christmas Spirit singers, windows decorated for the holidays, photos with Santa Claus… the store pulled out all the stops.
“Christmas is always a magical time, even more so in this historic year when we are celebrating the 130th anniversary of Galeries Lafayette. It’s a special time when people come together with pleasure, come to finalize their purchases as a family. For us, it’s an opportunity to thank our teams, of course, but also our customers who trust us and are loyal to us.”
20 to 25% of turnover for the year
The department store achieves, during the Christmas period, 20 to 25% of its annual turnover, especially as it sets up some special operations, with discounts on all departments, “which offer very affordable prices, for all budgets and all pockets”.
“We remain the country of fashioncontinues Philippe Sempéré, and the French like to dress up for parties, it creates a beautiful atmosphere”. On Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays in December, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Santa Claus will be there to have his portrait taken with the children. Gift vouchers will be won with the Wheel of Luck and a beauty raffle will allow, every week, one lucky person to win a jackpot.
