Pairs of blue suede shoes, or in English “blue suede shoes”, worn by the king of American rock’n’roll Elvis Presley at the start of his career were sold for 141,600 euros at an auction .

An iconic pair from the King. Blue suede shoes, translated “blue suede shoes” in English, which belonged to Elvis Presley at the start of his career were sold for 120,000 pounds sterling (141,600 euros) this Friday, June 28 by an auction company based in the United Kingdom , reports in particular The Guardian.

The pair of shoes, which had been estimated to sell for between £100,000 and £120,000, were worn by Elvis Presley “on and off stage in the 1950s”, the Guardian reports, including a filmed performance of him performing the song “Hound Dog”.

Given in 1958 before he left for the army

The singer would have acquired his shoes as a symbol after performing the title “Blue Suede Shoes” in his first album in 1956. A song by another artist Carl Perkins, but which will remain a trademark of the king of rock’n’ roll, including after his death in 1977 at age 42.

“In 1958, the night before Elvis left for the army (as part of his military service), he gave these shoes to a close friend and member of his entourage, Alan Fortas,” says the house auction Henry Aldrige & Son Ltd.

The pair was authenticated by another close friend of Elvis, Alan Fortas, who accompanied the artist in his career for 22 years, and who owns what he claims is the largest collection of objects that belonged to the singer.
