“It caught the eye of all of our members. But we preferred to adapt it to our taste so that we like it even more,” indicates one of the amateur actresses Roubina Kouyoumdjian. Professional director Marie-Claude Lachapelle, a Quebecer long established in the Jura, has therefore reworked this satirical comedy which explores exasperating human behavior.
Everyone has their own troubles
With cynicism, everyone’s little quirks will be dissected. We will also go back in time a little since the story takes place in the 1970s and the characters evolve on the square of a rural village. The Chantemerle de Moutier aula will therefore be transformed into the epicenter of a small town on Friday, Saturday (8 p.m.) and Sunday (5 p.m.). “What annoys me in other people are people who talk too much about themselves and people who constantly complain. But everyone has their own ‘painful problems’. Although the play deals with these annoying behaviors, it will be done with humor and each member of the public will recognize themselves in one of the characters”, smiles the resident of Saules who hopes that the play can also be performed in other places in the region soon. The Estrade troupe, whose actors are between 22 and 72 years old, will share the stage with a musician. Percussionist David Lerch will accompany the different scenes in the piece.
Concerning the state of the troop founded in 1985, it is doing quite well. Painful! will be the second show she has put on in barely a year and a half. “The Jura region is thirsty for theater! We, the amateur troupes, are here so that as many people as possible can try their hand at theater and have the chance to work with professional directors,” concludes Roubina Kouyoumdjian. Partner of the event, the Moutier cultural center, is delighted to welcome this group of troublesome people.
