Gers trombonist Guillaume Ceretto had the opportunity to take the stage during the two performances of Bigflo and Oli at the Toulouse Stadium, on June 8 and 9. He recounts these few days which will leave him with an indelible memory… before setting off again on the road.

“Impressive! It’s a big thrill when you go on stage.” On June 8 and 9, Toulouse residents Bigflo and Oli filled the Toulouse FC grounds twice. In front of the 64,000 people present, a Gersois was on stage, in the brass team. “Playing in front of so many people? It’s exciting, not at all paralyzing, it’s the right dose of adrenaline,” says Guillaume Ceretto.

Originally from Vic-Fezensac, the professional trombonist collaborated for the first time with the Toulouse brothers, in a new composition: “They have a team of four brass instruments and for the stadium tour, they increased the team to 22 members. As the four brass players are from Toulouse, we had already worked together on lots of projects, the links were made like that,” explains the Vicois.

In the past, he had the opportunity to confront large crowds, notably with his group (Funky Style Brasse), but never of this ilk: “I had a music festival on the Place du Capitole in front of 15 000 people, which was already quite a lot (laughs) but never this size.”

“Humanly? They are very aware and very involved”

Paradoxically, playing in front of so many people did not disturb him: “I had to be so focused on the music that I didn’t have any major paralyzing stress. I found it less stressful than playing in front of 1,000 people where the public is closer,” he reports.

If the concert had an unusual atmosphere: “The audience was quite crazy, the people were very, very hot!” His most memorable moment didn’t make heads move: “My favorite moment was when they performed the song “Sacré bordel”. Most of the brass team played in an arc around of Bigflo and Oli who were in a glass cube The formatting, the poignant words, the change in the “party” side… It was quite emotional, it was really great,” says Guillaume.

He will also have good memories off stage: “Sunday after the last show, there was a little decompression in the dressing rooms. We played a little with Flo, Oli, Vianney and Fabian (the father of the Toulouse brothers, Editor’s note ) who came to dance and sing in the boxes. It was nice on a human level? They are very knowledgeable and very involved,” reports the Gersois.

The trombonist, who also works at the Lomagne Gers music school, filled the memory box. But the man who directs the Vic-Fezensac harmony is not slowing down at the end of June: he performed at Disneyland for the music festival but also at the Rio Loco festival in Toulouse. And summer is just beginning…
