A new statue

The statue of Gabriel Faurewas installed at Place du Camp, Friday November 8, 2024, 100 years to the day after the national funeral of the composer in Paris. Created by the sculptor Sébastien Langloÿs, it was offered to the city by the association “Musiques au pays de Gabriel-Fauré”.

The statue created by Paul Toupet is back at Place Albert-Tournier.

World famous

Gabriel-Fauré’s music continues to tour the world. Born in 1845, at No. 17 rue Major (today rue Gabriel-Péri), ​​the artist then lived in Verniolle. And migrated to . But Ariège, and more particularly Pamiers, continues to cherish its world-famous composer.

Since his death in 1924, the department has passed on his legacy, notably with the Musiques au Pays de Gabriel Fauré festival, which highlights his work, that of his masters or students and more broadly his contemporaries.
