When Chantal is asked what motivated her to participate in the show my mother, your fathershe replies: “It was TVA who contacted me initially, and I initially refused. But when it was explained to me that the children were also participating, I found the idea interesting, because I am very close to my children. I spoke to Xavier about it, and he didn’t refuse!” Xavier, for his part, specifies: “In fact, I didn’t accept right away. I wasn’t sure I wanted to participate, but after some thought, I changed my mind. I told myself I would do it for my mother.” Chantal, who is a mother of two children, explains to us why she chose to experience this adventure with her son. “I was actually supposed to go on the show with my daughter, Kalia, who is 28 years old. But she couldn’t free herself, because she was very busy with the self-construction of her first house. At the time of filming, it was impossible for him to take a break to participate. I then asked Xavier to accompany me and I don’t think he regretted it!”
An attentive son
Since the beginning of the experiment, Xavier has behaved protectively towards his mother and he does not particularly appreciate the moments where Yanick seems to get a little too close to her for his liking. “In fact, I didn’t have the same vision as the other children. Many seemed happy that their parents were dating, but I was uncomfortable with the idea of seeing my mother kissing another man or having romantic moments before my eyes. It was like it was none of my business. I also wondered about the men she was going to meet. I wondered if they were really good people. They had to be reliable people, because after the show, it’s easy to change your behavior. It’s true that I’m more protective than others. I have always been very protective of my mother, especially when she introduces me to a new man!”
When Xavier is asked if he is afraid of losing his place in his mother’s life if a man enters, he replies: “Really not! I just like that the man who is trying to seduce her knows that she has a protective son, and that he has no interest in hurting her!” That Xavier is protective does not annoy Chantal at all. She admits that these days, with social media, it is difficult to meet someone. There are also bad people who are not there for the right reasons. “I think Xavier just wants to take care of his mother!”, she explains. Xavier, for his part, adds: “I’m her guy, and I think a son is naturally more protective of his mother than a daughter. I also noticed that the girls in the children’s home reacted differently to their mothers. They showed a more natural opening!”
Xavier explains his vision of Yanick to us during the adventure and confides that Jade, the latter’s daughter, helped him to better understand the man who seemed to please his mother. “Certainly Jade helped me see it differently. At first I thought all the guys looked good, but you never really know who is behind each man. It was over time that I learned to better understand the essence of each person. They were all good guys. Jade looks a lot like her father. They are both very calm. She’s really a good girl, and it’s definitely helped me to better understand myself and see Yanick in a good light!”
Xavier was not disappointed with the way he gave me a chance to find love, and I like things to happen slowly!” Chantal and her son are full of praise for the experience they had together, a memorable moment that strengthened their bonds. As for whether the relationship between Yanick and Chantal continued after their adventure in the house, that remains to be discovered. On the other hand, one thing is certain, Xavier has formed a true friendship with Vivianne and Frédéric.
