The 46e 3 Continents Film Festival takes place from Friday until November 23 in Nantes and in some theaters in Loire-Atlantique.
Four Nantes cinemas, the Katorza, the Pathé, the Concorde and the Cinématographe as well as 12 cinemas in the department (from Bouguenais to Pornichet) are mobilized.
The opening ceremony is held at the Graslin theater and the awards ceremony at Stéréolux on November 22.
Tribute to Indian actor-director Raj Kapoor
The winning films will be shown the next day at Katorza. Two juries are preparing to coexist. The first is made up of seasoned professionals while the young jury will allow students aged 19 to 22 to give their opinion.
Screenings dedicated to African, Asian and Latin American directors will compete for the Golden Balloon (granted by the City of Nantes) and Silver (granted by the Department). Two additional prizes will also be awarded as part of the international competition: Our official selection brings together recent or restored feature films or documentaries. We will pay tribute to Indian actor-director Raj Kapoor on the centenary of his birth. Also, a spotlight on the new Hong Kong wave of the 70s/80s and its martial arts films punctuated by Bruce Lee’s fights
notes Aurélie Chatelard, the festival’s communications manager.
Youth is not forgotten
In parallel with the official competition, a step aside will allow us not to forget French cinema and its young audience: The program of 11 films ”we, cosmopolitans” is intended for middle and high schools to make them want to discover the 3 continents. Kindergarten children will have dedicated tools at their disposal to start climbing steps towards the world
rejoices Aurélie Chatelard.
