American rapper Kanye West often told his employees that “Jews controlled the Kardashians” – his ex-wife’s family – and were “after him and his money”, according to a new complaint filed in California on Thursday. The sulphurous artist, who renamed himself Ye, has made numerous anti-Semitic statements in recent years, which has made him a show-business pariah. Adidas notably ceased all collaboration with him.
Kanye is the target of a litany of complaints from former employees who accuse him of abusive and sometimes bizarre behavior. In the latest, Murphy Aficionado, who worked for him for nine months between 2022 and 2023, describes his collaboration at the Yeezy shoe brand – launched with Adidas – and the Donda Academy school as a ‘nightmare’ . During this period, Ye’s “anti-Semitic tirades and conspiracies were daily,” according to the complaint.
Now 47, Kanye West was married to reality TV star Kim Kardashian for eight years. The couple, who had four children, divorced in 2022 and have an increasingly acrimonious relationship, although Kim Kardashian has in the past been understanding of the mental health problems of the rapper, who claims to be bipolar.
According to the complaint filed Thursday, Kanye West also had no qualms about flaunting his sexual relations in front of his employees. Murphy Aficionado thus claims to have been summoned to work meetings, in hotels where the rapper had very loud sexual relations with his partner Bianca Censori or his masseuse. The former employee said he felt “violated and dehumanized”.
The ex-employee is seeking financial compensation for unfair dismissal and for the emotional and psychological damages suffered. His lawyer, William Reed, explained that the complaint aims to “force Ye to understand that this behavior has no place in our society.” “The rapper’s vitriol, hatred and anti-Semitism continue, as does his complete lack of respect for the women around him,” denounced the council. Contacted by AFP, Kanye West’s representatives did not immediately respond.
