“My body no longer allows me, my mind and my heart perhaps, but my body says no!”
With an open heart, the wife of Prince Albert discussed her professional commitments, but also her bond with her twins, Jacques and Gabriella and her beauty rituals. Through the subject of sport, she also mentioned her relationship with age, she who will celebrate her 47th birthday next January.
“I just try to stay as young as possible in my heart and my mind”
“I walk, I cycle, I swim too but not as much as before. I no longer practice as intensely as in the past, she confides to our Gala colleagues. When I was young, I trained very hard, I pushed myself physically. Today, I do it in moderation. Which is sometimes quite difficult because my nature is to break records, to win medals, to go beyond my limits. But, at almost 47 years old, I can no longer do that… My body no longer allows me, my mind and my heart perhaps, but my body says no!”
High-level swimmer as a teenager (ranked 5e
as a team in the 4x100m medley at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games), Charlene of Monaco is no longer in her former form. But even if her body no longer allows her to perform as much as before, she says she is not afraid of getting older. “I think we have to accept it.
Chasing eternal youth is an illusion. I'm just trying to stay as young as possible in my heart and mind.” she confides.
Not as young as before, but just as busy!
She has many other concerns besides age anyway. At the head of the Monaco SPA since September 2022, Princess Charlene must reconcile professional obligations and family life. A daily struggle for this mother of twins.
“It is indeed difficult to find time to spend one-on-one time with them but it's essential when you are parents of twins, she continues.
The conversations I can have with Jacques and those with Gabriella are so different, as well as the time spent with them. Gabriella is very curious. She is very intrigued by the world and life in general. She asks lots of questions and demands a lot of attention. As for Jacques, he is curious and observant. More reserved, he is very calm by nature.”
