Clowns Sans Frontières France is an artistic association of international solidarity which intervenes in France and throughout the world to provide, through laughter and spectacle, psychosocial support to populations victims of humanitarian crises or in extremely precarious situations, first and foremost place the children.
It is in this context that Emmanuelle Bon, circus artist and Severine Rovel, in charge of logistics, have been in Mayotte for a week at the heart of a renewed partnership with Apprentis d’Auteuil and the Community of Communes of Petite-Terre (CCPT).
From November 7 to 23, 16 young people, aged 14 to 18, from several villages of Bandraboua, Grand Mamoudzou and Petite-Terre, come together for an original experience. Through workshops, it is about developing their creativity, offering them tools for artistic expression and involving them in a rewarding collective experience. If the format is essentially the same as in 2023, it is Maya Gana who succeeds Nawal on the musical part.
Séverine Rovel tells us more. “We started the residency 5 days ago with a group of young people older than last year. The 4 artists divide the groups according to their field, theatrical performance, clowning, music and dance. At first, they let things come, without directing, to leave room for exploration. Then it will be about building the show. »
As artistic director, Margot Mc Laughlin, accompanied by Emmanuelle Bon, specialized in circal arts, Kris Fahardine, dancer, and Maya Gana, musician.
Young people who are often shy in Mayotte and sometimes surprised but more prepared than last year: “We can say that in 2023, it was a crash test, when this year, the educators took the time to explain the project , and for our part, we shared a video exchange with the young people before arriving to break the ice. It’s about overcoming their shyness but also misunderstandings orally, many exchanges were translated in particular by Kris Fahardine. It’s much smoother now. »
Once the show is staged, 7 free performances are announced (see opposite).
For 30 years, Clowns Sans Frontières-France has been providing psychosocial and emotional support through laughter and entertainment to the most vulnerable children in the world.
