Montpellier Dance

ROBYN ORLIN avec HOW_IN_SALT_DESERT.

The Montpellier Danse festival lets the tumult of the music festival pass before inviting companies from all over the world to offer their new creations. It starts with diversity with three very different choreographers.
First there is Robyn Orlin this Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 8 p.m. at 13 Vents with how in salts desert is it possible to blossom…. (How can one flower in a salt desert…). The choreographer never stops weaving shows halfway between dance, performance and music that take their source from South Africa.
For his part, Wayne McGregor comes to the Corum for Deepstaria from Saturday to Monday at 8 p.m., a world premiere show named after a jellyfish that combines careful movements and technology. To amaze you. Finally at 10 p.m., from Saturday to Monday at the Agora, Saburo Teshigawara delights with an aesthetic of refinement. Another world.

Solsticium

The summer solstice is a great moment of celebration in Occitan culture through Sant Joan. This is how Total Festum and Inter’Cal (an association which brings together the three Calendretas schools in Montpellier) invite you to a long day at Parc Montcalm full of Occitan sounds. The doors open at 2:30 p.m. From 4 p.m., you can play various wooden games and try out tambourine, a typical sport of Hérault. The solstice ritual is scheduled for 6 p.m. Half an hour later, the musical scene will launch with a violin/cello duo: Krinkrin. At 8 p.m., the raggamuffin Occitan ambiance from Nice, French or Italian from Nux Vomica will heat us up before returning to La mal coiffée at 9:30 p.m. The female quartet, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, continues its path of defense and transmission of popular Occitan culture. The four artists use their voices for this but also various percussive instruments such as a bombo leguero from South America, a bendir from North Africa, an adufe from Portugal, a tammorra from southern Italy and the drum Occitan friction, the famous petadou. A great way to end the evening with sounds and a few words of Occitan in mind.

Solsticium #7. Saturday June 22, from 2:30 p.m. to midnight. Parc Montcalm, 11 rue des Chasseurs, Montpellier. FREE ENTRANCE.

This open-air exhibition is accompanied by music and workshops for children. Note that street artists will create live works that can be taken with you. The design of a participatory fresco is also planned. So come with your ideas. Let’s not forget the raffle which will allow you to win a work of art for a ridiculous sum.

8th edition of Children’s Street

Rue Balard closes and the children take advantage of it.

Some deplore this tendency to pass everything on to children, judging that they lead us by the nose. It even happens that a street is closed to give it to them. This is what is happening this Sunday in rue Balard, near Parc Clemenceau. Admit that with the stubborn construction, this neighborhood maybe needs a little imagination at the moment. On the program, numerous creative workshops, opportunities to try out dance, tap dancing and sport. There is also a small exhibition, an installation, board games. As for the show, at 2 p.m. there are dramatized tales and at 5 p.m. a concert by IdIk, a guitar duo. Some children will also run stalls at the lice market. This will allow them to sell toys, games, books or even objects that they have created.

Sunday June 23 at 2 p.m. Rue Balard, Montpellier. FREE ENTRANCE. Such. : 09 53 94 81 87.

Mike et Rike de Sinsemilia

All the happiness in the world was a hit for Sinsémillia. Its origins are distant, but the two friends of the group, Mike and Rike, who met at the age of nine, have never stopped performing on stage, while innovating. This is how they chose an intimate mode with Souvenirs of acrobat, a musical moment, with an acoustic guitar, two voices, and anecdotes taken over the course of their long career. It will be about Michel Drucker, Mireille Mathieu and the real story of their hit.

Friday June 21 at 9 p.m. Kawa Theater, 18 rue Fouques, Montpellier. Price: €20.22.
