The show by Tony Marinaro at BPM Sports, that’s something.
Tony, who gives a good show everywhere he goes (including on the Stanley25 podcast), has recently started calling people’s mothers. He started this after calling his once in a while on the air.
And let’s just say that it makes for some funny moments.
Today he was on the line with the mother of a listener (Madame Josée) and he asked her if the Canadian should go get Kris Letang. And even though he phrased his question so she would say no, Marinaro received a yes.
But this is where it gets good.
When the listener realized that she was being fooled, she thought about the fact that she was on the radio. But in his head, it was Mario Tessier who was setting a trap for him and not Marinaro.
And even though Marinaro said he was greeting Mario Tessier, the listener still thought she was talking to the comedian. Marinaro therefore played the game: he became Mario Tessier, for the duration of a call.
So he told Madame Josée that she had been caught at “It’s going to the station” and she said she knew it. So it made for a funny radio moment in which only Mario Tessier Tony Marinaro at le secret.
And he added this:
Hey, I’m 100 pounds lighter today! –Tony Tessier
When it comes to improvising on the air, Marinaro has no equal. I don’t know if the listener is proud to have seen her son throw her into the lion’s den like that, but it just made for a good time.
