It’s sometimes difficult to be a prophet in your country. Nestled in the heart of the Beaux-Arts district, the Museum of Raw, Singular and Other Arts is a gem that remains little-known in Montpellier. And yet, with a collection of 2,500 works, the second largest in France dedicated to outsider art, including 800 on display, the former workshop-museum of the zinc artist Fernand Michel does not lack arguments. Stuck between the two forms of traditional and modern academic art which are classicism and contemporary art, or between disdain and snobbery, the creativity of these artists outside any classical field nevertheless seduces all visitors who take the step of the door of this museum with an international reputation, including Patrick Michel is the guarantor. With the will and ambition to maintain it at the highest level.
