Last year, fifty young soloists responded to the call to participate in this competition. “ This yearspecifies David Maillot, vice-president of the orchestra, our competition is growing since there will be 67 of them, from all over France, taking part! » Three categories are on the program – juniors (up to 11 years old), cadets (12-15 years old) and juniors (16-19 years old) – with instruments such as cornet, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion, etc. The objective of this competition is “ to bring together and contribute to the educational development of young instrumentalists ».
Blind competition
Their solo performance will be performed in front of a jury who will judge blindly, therefore without seeing the musicians. It will be chaired by Guillaume Cottet-Dumoulin, principal trombone of the Orchester de Paris and professor of trombone at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris.
On Saturday, the Kiosk will resonate with the individual interventions of these young soloists mixing virtuosity, pleasure but also stage fright, for some. Fear of playing in front of these professional musicians, family or friends, fear of knowing that they will be able to play in the evening with the Brass band, conducted by Luc Vertommen, during the gala concert and in front of a certainly full and enthusiastic room like the last year.
Two important events this season, adds David Maillot, also principal saxhorn of the Republican Guard orchestra: the French Brass-band championship in Metz in February, “ where we will aim for a historic tenth title “, and the European Brass Band Championship in May in Stavanger, Norway, “ where we will fly the colors of France high! ».
This Saturday, November 16, at 8 p.m., at the Kiosk. Free. Reservations: [email protected].
