As part of the Olympic Games in Paris, the Museum of Hunting and Nature invites the Swiss collective Plonk & Replonk-Bébert to “parasite” its collections around the theme of sport. An exhibition entitled “1,2… 4 Podium!” to discover until September 22, 2024.

How can we divert a museum that is constantly rethinking itself? The stunning Museum of Hunting and Nature located in the heart of Paris gave carte blanche to the French-speaking satirist Plonk & Replonk-Bébert and his collective who hid lots of nonsense in its collection.

Entitled “1, 2… 4 Podium!”, the exhibition is part of the news of the Olympic Games and is directly inspired by sport and the works presented in the museum. Thus, alongside 16th century hunting rifles, a golf ball slingshot was embedded. The museum absorbs the works of Plonk & Replonk-Bébert with an almost disconcerting naturalness as it participates in its spirit. That of an unusual institution which questions our relationship to biodiversity by comparing its traditional hunting collection with contemporary works.

An absurd (sporting) challenge

At the Museum of Hunting and Nature in Paris, twenty works by Plonk & Replonk-Bébert are hidden among the permanent collections. A nice way to take a step, or even two, towards the absurd by infusing a good dose of surrealist poetry into this Parisian institution and a great challenge especially taken up with humor by Plonk & Replonk-Bébert and his collective.

“It’s a playground, an Ali Baba’s cave, it’s a shambles, this museum already completely parasitized by other artists. (…) It’s a tribute to sport, but to those who don’t win every time”, underlines with a laugh Hubert Froidevaux, alias Plonk & Replonk-Bébert, image maker, in the 7:30 p.m. of June 13.
